So lately, I’ve been on a TedTalks kick, and if you haven’t watched them before…I highly recommend it. The sharing of ideas, stories, breakthroughs, whatever… these are the kinds of things that are going to inspire positive changes to life on this earth, big or small.
For some time now, I’ve been following Angelo Merendino’s Facebook feed titled, My Wife’s Fight With Breast Cancer. As incredibly sad and unfair the whole thing is, he has managed to create such a beautiful and captivating series of photos from her battle. He mentions how he initially had gotten started with the of documenting their everyday…..
When her cancer had returned the second time, they experienced a loss of a support group…nobody was realizing how bad the cancer had gotten because she had once beaten it before. He then turned to the art form of photography, being the best way he knew how to communicate their struggle. “Our hope was, if our family and friends saw what we were facing every day, then maybe they would understand the challenges in our life.” The photos were born and made out of necessity, and how he puts it, “to survive.”
Art made and shared by necessity, which then proceeds to branch out and reach people on levels nobody could have even predicted…that’s an incredible thing my friends.
This puts your priorities in life into perspective. It’s a shame that some people have to battle for what we consider the “everyday grind”… while others approach their lives with such a disposable attitude. “I can sit around all day; feeling sad, and thinking life is unfair. And yes, sometimes it is. Or I can get up, wipe myself off, and open my eyes to see all the beauty around me. All the wonderful reasons why it is so great to be alive.” Check out his blog here.
“Love every morsel of the people in your life.” – Jennifer Merendino
“Even though it is not my problem, I will fight for it if I can.” Completely unadulterated opinions from none other than children… and they are making a hell of a lot more sense than a lot of the chatter out there. I love love love this video.
This is a video from TheFineBros.
Okay, and if you were wondering which videos they were referencing in this…. here they are.
